Up-Cycled Nightstands for the Colona Family

Up-Cycled Nightstands for the Colona Family

Hi friends, and happy Friday! We recently had to opportunity to work on another awesome project with the Colona family! This time, Nicole found a set of doors for $10! (WHAT A STEAL) She brought them to us, along with their nightstands, and asked that we do a little up-cycling on them!

She had the FUN IDEA to attach the doors vertically onto the backs of each nightstand, and then once we refinished them, they would add sconce lighting to the tops of each!

So, we got to work on making a few small repairs on the doors.. Nothing major…. but the tops seemed to have had a bit of water damage and were swollen and separating. We glued and clamped those areas, and also added some wood planks in the tops to create a more SECURE area to drill their sconce lighting into. Then we attached them onto the backs of the nightstands.

After we completed all of our prep work, stripping, sanding, and cleaning, we were able to get to my most favorite part… THE FINISHIING! For this set, we painted in a lovely light blue, lightly distressed, glazed, and fully sealed our pieces to match the Colona’s bed that we refinished for them a few years back.

Now these ONE-OF-A-KIND  beauties have so much CHARACTER thanks to Nicole’s great idea to combine these pieces into 2 new up-cycled nightstands!

Thanks again, Nicole and Brandon, for allowing us to work on another fun project for your home! Y’all are always such a pleasure to work with. 🙂
