From Flood Waters to Farmhouse Fab…

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Today we have a very special up-cycle to share with all of you! We recently had the pleasure of working with the Jenkin’s family who brought us a Headboard and Armoire that had lots of water damage after being SUBMERGED in several feet of FLOOD WATER. Typically, most people would throw these types of items out and simply purchase new ones, but this set belonged to their grandmother and she was absolutely heartbroken over the loss of her beloved bedroom set. So, they brought us the pieces without her knowing, and asked that we try to salvage as much as we could and turn them into a BRAND NEW PIECE!Continue reading

Duncan Phyfe Dining Table Repair & Refinish for the McBrayer Family

Duncan Phyfe Dining Table Repair & Refinish for the McBrayer Family

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Today we sharing a stunning repair/refinish of a GORGEOUS Duncan Phyfe dining table that we recently refinished for the McBrayer family. Mrs. McBrayer initially contacted us because their dining room table was almost unusable due to the poor condition of the legs and feet, and was in disparate need of a little TLC. They were splitting and separating because of the age of the table. You see, this beauty was a family heirloom that Mrs. McBrayer’s grandmother passed down to her. So, she was not planning on getting rid of it any time soon. This meant that it was imperative that it was fixed as soon as possible before the extent of the damage WORSENED.

We began by fully stripping, sanding, and cleaning the entire table. Once we had that completed, we were able to get to work on our repairs. This part was the most TEDIOUS because we had to be extremely GENTLE because the wood was very DELICATE while CAUTIOUSLY removed the legs and all of the old glue. Also several legs were broken, and the pillar holding each was cracked and separating as well. Continue reading

Three Piece Family Heirloom Set

Three Piece Family Heirloom Set

Hi Friends! We recently had the pleasure of working with our sweet clients, the Bell family. Mrs. Bell had recently inherited a few pieces from her grandparents and was looking to have them refinished to match her home. These pieces are very SENTIMENTAL to her because she was extremely close to her grandparents, and her grandfather HANDCRAFTED all of these beautiful pieces himself. (And he did a fabulous job, we might add!)

Since these pieces are going to be used in separate rooms, Mrs. Bell decided to do 2 separate looks. She wanted one of the chairs and the end table to match, and then she wanted the remaining chair to match a piece they already had. We loved this idea because it shows how 2 pieces that MATCH exactly (the chairs) could look so DIFFERENT from one another with just a little paint!Continue reading

Antique Sewing Machine Repair & Refinish

Antique Sewing Machine Repair & Refinish

Happy Tuesday, Friends! Do y’all remember the Antique Sewing Machine that we recently REPAIRED and REFINISHED for our clients, the Rachal family a few short weeks ago? Well, here is another one that they own, that once belonged to Mrs. Rachal’s mother. Like the other one, it was also in need of repairs and a refinish. Although, it was expected since it was a piece that was RECOVERED from their home after it was flooded in Katrina. So, she looks in fairly good shape considering the circumstances.Continue reading

We Are Up-Cycling This Old Door Into A Coffee Table

We Are Up-Cycling This Old Door Into A Coffee Table

Hi Friends! This is our NEWEST Up-Cycling project! This old door was dropped off to us yesterday by a client. It came from a her husband’s home that he grew up in as a child. So, it is a SENTIMENTAL piece for their family. Since they no longer needed it to be used as a door, they asked if we could use it to make a COFFEE TABLE. That way, he would still have a piece of his OLD home, in his NEW home.

Well, we jumped all over this OPPORTUNITY! Y’all know how much we LOVE to take old pieces, and turn them into something NEW! It is such a PASSION of ours to have the opportunity to breathe NEW LIFE INTO OLD PIECES. Especially, when they are sentimental and have a heartfelt meaning behind them!

So, KEEP AN EYE OUT for pictures of our finished product. We PROMISE…it will be UNRECOGNIZABLE!
