Up-Cycled Nightstands for the Colona Family

Up-Cycled Nightstands for the Colona Family

Hi friends, and happy Friday! We recently had to opportunity to work on another awesome project with the Colona family! This time, Nicole found a set of doors for $10! (WHAT A STEAL) She brought them to us, along with their nightstands, and asked that we do a little up-cycling on them!

She had the FUN IDEA to attach the doors vertically onto the backs of each nightstand, and then once we refinished them, they would add sconce lighting to the tops of each!Continue reading

Duncan Phyfe Dining Table Repair & Refinish for the McBrayer Family

Duncan Phyfe Dining Table Repair & Refinish for the McBrayer Family

Hi Friends and Happy Tuesday! Today we sharing a stunning repair/refinish of a GORGEOUS Duncan Phyfe dining table that we recently refinished for the McBrayer family. Mrs. McBrayer initially contacted us because their dining room table was almost unusable due to the poor condition of the legs and feet, and was in disparate need of a little TLC. They were splitting and separating because of the age of the table. You see, this beauty was a family heirloom that Mrs. McBrayer’s grandmother passed down to her. So, she was not planning on getting rid of it any time soon. This meant that it was imperative that it was fixed as soon as possible before the extent of the damage WORSENED.

We began by fully stripping, sanding, and cleaning the entire table. Once we had that completed, we were able to get to work on our repairs. This part was the most TEDIOUS because we had to be extremely GENTLE because the wood was very DELICATE while CAUTIOUSLY removed the legs and all of the old glue. Also several legs were broken, and the pillar holding each was cracked and separating as well. Continue reading

DIY Coffee Plaque

DIY Coffee Plaque

Hi Friends, and Happy Monday! We have a GREAT new DIY project for you to start out your week! What do you do when you have a broken rake? Make a plaque out of it, OF COURSE! We recently broke our rake, and instead of throwing it away…we decided to Up-Cycle it! My grandparents are Up-Cyclers too (where did y’all think we learned it?). And since Father’s Day was right around the corner, we decided to make a gift out of it for our sweet Paw Paw!

We have seen rakes used as wine glass holders, and key holders too, but my Paw Paw LOVES COFFEE! So, we decided to use it as a mug holder. He is actually the reason why I love coffee so much. He used to give me “coffee milk” when  I was little, and I have been hooked ever since. 😉Continue reading
