Up-Cycled Bicycle Planter Box

Up-Cycled Bicycle Planter Box

Hi Friends! For anyone who has ever wondered where we get our LOVE of up-cycling from… well, look NO FURTHER! My grandparents taught us everything we know. They are old-school up-cyclers…. They were up-cycling when up-cycling wasn’t even COOL! Like, it wasn’t even a thing back then. But they did it and did it well, and are still doing it to this day!

I don’t always post their projects, but this one was so cute, I couldn’t help myself. They have been hard at work making this fun little planter box to put their “Watch For Children” sign in at the front of our driveway. (They are always making sure their grandbabies stay safe)

This little bike originally belonged to our oldest son, and it made its way through 2 more of our kiddos before it finally BIT THE DUST. It actually had a little help from daddy’s truck, but oh well… they had to learn the hard way not to leave their bikes in the driveway. (It was the first, and will hopefully be the last time they will make that mistake)Continue reading

Rock Out With This Fun Boys Rocker Refinish

Rock Out With This Fun Boys Rocker Refinish

Rock out with this fun boys rocker refinish…

We recently refinished these ADORABLE little rockers for our client, Ms. Laura. Ms. Laura had been holding onto these adorable rockers for quite some time, and since she now has 2 handsome little grandsons, she asked us to refinish them for the boys as a gift. We have been anxiously waiting to post pictures of our finished products, but they were a surprise and we didn’t want to spoil it for her daughter, Tiffani (since she follows our page), and her 2 sons. Continue reading

The Case Of The Un-Matching Set

The Case Of The Un-Matching Set

Happy Friday, Friends! Do y’all happen to remember the SNEAKY PEEK in Lavish Green that we were working on last week? Well, here is the BEAUTIFUL set of pieces that we were working on! This set definitely proves that not all pieces have to be from a matching set in order for them to all go well together in 1 space!

Our clients initially came to us with these pieces, and 3 out of 4 of them held SENTIMNTAL value since they had been passed down through Mrs. Stein’s family to her. The buffet originally belonged to her mother, and the end tables belonged to her grandparents. Since our client’s living room and kitchen area are open to one another, they decided to have all of the pieces refinished to MATCH.Continue reading

Sneaky Peek Of The New Orleans Style Finish

Sneaky Peek Of The New Orleans Style Finish

Okay friends… Our media cabinet is really coming together now! Here is the 1st SNEAKY PEEK of the New Orleans Style Finish! And we LOOOVE IT!  We can’t wait to show y’all our finished product!

We also picked out our knobs today and will hopefully get them on tomorrow once we have finished sealing everything. 🙂

drawer and knob

This is one of our drawer fronts and our knobs. I have a thing for heavy cast iron knobs and pulls. They bring a bit of masculinity to a piece, while the scroll work on the face plate keeps it somewhat feminine. It just goes to show that opposites do go well together!

If you are just joining us, and would like to get caught up on our journey until now with this project, you can view our past posts HERE, HERE, and HERE

“Tip Of The Week” Cleaning Your Grill Naturally

“Tip Of The Week” Cleaning Your Grill Naturally

Happy Tuesday, Friends! This week’s “Tip Of The Week” is just in time for SUMMER! That is because it is all about GRILLIN’!  And it is  perfect for all of you heading to the beach, parks, and campsites for your upcoming vacations. This is a little trick that my husband, Patrick, has been using for years. He learned it on a training mission several years back while he was still in the Army. And we haven’t stopped using it since!

So, here it is… Simply cut an onion in half and rub it all over the racks inside of your grill. This will loosen up baked on GRIT and GRIME and will clean your grates. It’s best to heat the grill super hot first. It also reduces your food from sticking while cooking and will season the grates. Once you are finished, leave the onion inside of your grill while your food is cooking. The onion will draw in the extra heat and will help your other food from getting burned during the cooking process.

Onions have a powerful and natural antibacterial and antiseptic properties. Which is why they are a wonderful option to using HARSH CHEMICALS and WIRE BRUSHES. There have been several news reports in the media recently regarding accidental ingestion of wire bristles that have been left on the grill grates after cleaning and have found their way into the food placed on the grill. These bristles are small and can sometimes go unnoticed, and can cause major medical issues if ingested. This is why the onion method of cleaning your grill is one of the SAFEST OPTIONS you can use.
