Look What We Just Picked Up! Handles!

Look What We Just Picked Up! Handles!

We just picked up our handles for our Entry Console Cabinet, and boy are they BEAUTIFUL! They tie in PERFECTLY with the RUSTIC theme of our piece. And as I have said before, we have a thing for cast iron knobs! They bring so much CHARACTER to a any piece that they are added to. And we especially LOVE adding a face plate to the back of a knob. They take up more space and make, what would have been a simple knob, look much LARGER. And 99.9% BIGGER is always BETTER. LOL! We can do that here in the SOUTH. 😉

If you are just joining us, and would like to see our journey on this piece until now, you can view our progress HERE and HERE.

Our New Orleans Style Media Cabinet Is Complete!

Our New Orleans Style Media Cabinet Is Complete!

Okay, Friends! We have the Fangue family’s New Orleans Style Media Cabinet COMPLETED! And we could not be happier with our results. We are HEAD OVER HEELS in love with it! In order to achieve this GORGEOUS finish, we used 4 different paint colors, plus a dark glaze. We then fully sealed everything with a lovely satin finish!  This piece is sure to be a FABULOUS focal point in any room! ( We love it so much, that we are on the hunt to find something in our home to use this finishing technique on.)

It always amazes us what a little stain, paint, and glaze can do…Continue reading

Update: Entry Console Cabinet

Update: Entry Console Cabinet

Hi Friends! Here is our progress that we have made on our entry console cabinet that we started yesterday! We stayed up later than usual last night in order to finish the building portion of this project. We have now started staining, and will soon begin adding some paint to the bottom portion of this piece. Keep an eye out for more upcoming updates on this cabinet!

To see out progress on this project, you can view it HERE in the past post.

*NOTE: Please excuse the doors, drawers, and top as they are just sitting in place at the moment and will not be attached until the finishing portion of this project has been completed.*

NEW ORDER: Entry Console Cabinet

NEW ORDER: Entry Console Cabinet

Hi Friends! While our sealant is currently drying on our media cabinet, we have begun work on a new order! We are still in the beginning stages, but have made some MAJOR HEADWAY in a very short period of time! This is going to be a BEAUTIFUL Entry Console Cabinet. We are EXCITED about this particular order because we have working with this sweet family before, and we look forward to working together with them again on this project! Plus, this piece is not going to just fill SPACE in their home…it is going to also fill a NEED. It is replacing our clients’ current entry table because it has proven to be UNSAFE for their young son. It is top heavy, so when he attempts to pull up on it, he could easily pull it over on top of himself, along with all of the pictures and decor currently sitting on top. By SWITCHING it out with this NEW entry console table, it not only offers more space to hold items (since it will have drawers, and a shelf underneath), but also gives them peace of mind regarding their son’s safety.

Our Stain Has Dried And Now We’re Ready For Some Paint!

Our Stain Has Dried And Now We’re Ready For Some Paint!

Hi Friends! We have allowed our stain to dry overnight on our custom media cabinet, and now it is ready for some PAINT! As gorgeous as this Minwax Special Walnut Stain is, it is going to be OUT OF THIS WORLD once we start adding some paint! This is only the 1st of many layers that this media cabinet will see. It will be unrecognizable, in a good way, by tomorrow!

Don’t forget to check back with us to see our next update on this beauty! If you would like to see our journey with this project so far, you can view our previous posts HERE and HERE

stein set

Happy Tuesday, Friends! For all of you who have been following our updates on the Stein’s Grey Inspiration set, IT IS OFFICIALLY COMPLETE! (For a look back on our journey, click: here, here, and here) And boy is it GORGEOUS! This was our first time using this particular color combination, and we could not be more pleased with the results.

They wanted to go with a two-tone finish. So, we used Sherwin Williams Ovation Latex Paint in “Krypton” on all of the bases, with a Minwax Satin Polyurethane finish. And for the tops, we used Rustoleum Carrington Stain with a Minwax Semi-Gloss Polyurethane finish. And here are some before and after pictures of each piece…Continue reading

Rustic DIY Cross Plaque

Rustic DIY Cross Plaque

Hi Friends! This week, we threw together a great QUICK and EASY pallet project for all of you! And when we say quick and easy, we truly mean it! From start to finish, it only took us A FEW HOURS to have this project completed. And it DID NOT COST US A PENNY! Not to mention, the material list for this project is VERY SHORT. All that we used was 1 pallet, 1 cross, some leftover paint from a previous project, and some glue and screws.  Most DIYers will already have most of these items on hand. And if not, NO WORRIES! They are super easy to find and are NOT EXPENSIVE at all. Continue reading

Tip of the week!

If you have an issue with drawers that stick, candle wax could do the trick! Simply rub some candle wax on the problem areas! This will help to coat the track and will allow your drawers to slide in and out with ease.

Our $20 End Tables

Our $20 End Tables

How we turned $20 Walmart tables into beautiful nightstands.

We don’t often have the time to refinish too much for ourselves, but our poor nightstands/end tables were begging for help. So, we took a little time at the beginning of January to give them a little makeover….
