5 Things: Our Father’s Day… The Good, The Bad, and The Funny

5 Things: Our Father’s Day… The Good, The Bad, and The Funny

Hi Friends and Happy Father’s Day to all of our daddies and daddies-to-be! We have had a wonderful day showering Patrick with love, and now that we are home and he is taking a little evening Father’s Day nap, I decided to sneak on here and write a little post for all of you about the ADVENTUROUS day that we have had. So here it goes…

5 Things: Our Father’s Day… The Good, The Bad, and The Funny:

1. So, here is how our morning began…. Well, I should really give y’all a little backstory first. I was FORCED BEYOND MY WILL to take a HUGE portion of cake home from the baby shower yesterday. And not just ANY section of cake, it was more like the entire side which had an ENORMOUS amount of LUSCIOUS FROSTING. Which I usually do not complain about free cake, but this cake was DANGEROUS y’all!

It was a fabulous, homemade, incredibly moist, creamy, rich, buttery, melt in your mouth, almond flavored cake…. And it tasted exactly like Wedding Cake. And here’s the problem, Wedding Cake is my one weakness! It is my favorite and I lose all of my senses and become completely clutched in its grasp while in its presence. Well, on my way home yesterday evening, I tried my very best to get rid of it all. I dropped some off to my grandparents, and then brought the rest to the boys. I left it on the counter hoping they would devour every last morsel.

But when I woke up this morning and headed into the kitchen, there it was… just STARING at me! One glorious piece of cake left. It was as if Jesus had saved it just for me! I tried to resist at first, but as I walked past to retrieve the coffee creamer from the fridge, I got one heavenly sniff and immediately fell into its evil clutches. I had no other choice but to gobble it up at once. Plus, you know that I am an adult, and it IS technically okay for me to eat cake for breakfast… And that is EXACTLY what I did.

5 Things: We Welcome You To The Lollipop Guild…

1. So, let me start off by telling y’all that we have not been to the gym in FOREVER! At least 8 or 9 months. Basically since Patrick’s health issues began last August. But since we finally have his heart rhythm under control, his doctors have released him to start working out again. Until now, he was only released to work… and that was it! So, sitting at home during this time period has caused us to really undo all of the hard work that we put in at the gym throughout the years prior. And with all of the added stress… the pounds decided to make themselves at home… on our bodies! The struggle has been REAL my friends. Especially considering that this is what my heart keeps telling me to do…Continue reading

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture: Livin’ Life On The Wild Side

1. This is our youngest son. He is sweet, loving, kindhearted, hilarious, compassionate, and the BEST HUGGER IN THE ENTIRE WORLD. But he is also accident prone! Yes, friends… if there is something dangerous within a 1 mile radius, this kid is going to find it. Even if it is something that would not typically be harmful, he will still get hurt on it. And 9 times out of 10, he will get hurt on his poor head or face.Continue reading

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture… Meet Our Elves!

1. It has started! The stress of every parent during Christmas…. ELF ON THE SHELF SEASON! There is always that GUT WRENCHING FEAR that we will slip up one night and forget to.. well, YOU KNOW! I don’t want to SPILL THE BEANS in case someone’s child happens to come across this post and, in turn, becomes an UNBELIEVER of all things Christmas! 😉

2. So, here they are… meet our elves, Jolly-Jingles and Holly-Bells. Their names can be switched around to become 2 of our most favorite Christmas songs… “Holly Jolly” and “Jingle Bells.” Santa first sent Jolly to us several years ago as our family’s elf. But since our girls were a little uncomfortable changing in front of a boy elf in their bedroom, as well as using the bathroom in front of him if he happened to be in there, Santa decided to send us a girl elf last year. PROBLEM SOLVED!

I Refuse To Let My Circumstances Ruin My Day

I Refuse To Let My Circumstances Ruin My Day

Oh, heavens! Yes… this is EXACTLY what is happening over here. I have a feeling that I will need to write a MUCH LONGER blog post about the events that have transpired in our home over the past 24 hrs, but since I am currently short on time, I will have to sum it up for y’all in 5 short bullet points….Continue reading

Five Things I am Thankful For Today

Five Things I am Thankful For Today

1. I AM THANKFUL that this day went much better than I initially expected. I have been fighting a cold since last week, which turned into laryngitis over the weekend. Since we homeschool our little ones, I was not sure what to expect going into this school week. (Being a teacher who can’t talk was a scary thought) As you can all imagine, I was a little nervous to say the least. But I am HAPPY to report that we got through it! Our kiddos were very COOPERATIVE, they LISTENED WELL,  and were extremely HELPFUL. And we even got finished earlier than normal! (I have NO IDEA how that happened.) 😉Continue reading

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture… Pippi Longstockings Fan Club

1. We shared with y’all yesterday that our oldest daughter had to choose from a list of books for  her Literature class. And to my SURPRISE… Pippi Longstockings was on the list! Pippi Longstockings was one of my TOP FAVORITE MOVIES when I was a kid. I have watched it about a MILLION times, and it NEVER GETS OLD. So, I was THRILLED when she chose to read it for her class.

2. We also decided to watch the movie for our family movie night last night. NONE of our kids had ever seen it before. And Patrick had not either! SHOCKING… I know!Continue reading

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture: There’s Only One Way To Kill REALLY BIG Spiders!

1. Since the weather has been a tad cooler here lately (70’s -80’s in the evenings), we have been enjoying family bonfires every night for the past week. And when we do bonfires, we go the whole 9 yards! We are talking S’MORES, HOT DOGS, APPLE CIDER, and FLASHLIGHT TAG! It is a BLAST!

2. For those of you who are reading this who live in states with cooler temps, we are well aware that 70-80’s does NOT sound very cool. In fact, it may seem EXTREMELY HOT for some! HAHA! Well, for us Louisianians, it is much cooler than the high temps that we are used to experiencing. Plus, we will GLADLY TAKE any weather that even remotely feels like “Fall Weather.”Continue reading

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture… It’s Partayyy Time!

1. For those of you who are just joining us, we have just started homeschooling our children this year; and today marked the end of our very 1st week! What a GREAT week we had! The first few days were a bit of a learning experience as we worked on getting into a good routine. And we are HAPPY to report that by the time we reached Thursday, we had found a nice routine for our whole family. Now, I am sure that there are things that could always be improved upon, but we will learn what needs to be changed and tweaked as time progresses.

2. Since this week has gone so well for our entire family, we decided to CELEBRATE! We believe in rewards for hard work around here. Plus, our little ones DESERVE it! The have faithfully gotten up early every morning, with little to no complaining. PRAISE GOD! Oh, and not to mention… they finished ALL of their course work in EVERY subject for the week. They also passed all of their tests with FLYING COLORS. That, my friends, makes my heart SOOO HAPPY!!! 🙂Continue reading
