5 Things: Our Father’s Day… The Good, The Bad, and The Funny

Hi Friends and Happy Father’s Day to all of our daddies and daddies-to-be! We have had a wonderful day showering Patrick with love, and now that we are home and he is taking a little evening Father’s Day nap, I decided to sneak on here and write a little post for all of you about the ADVENTUROUS day that we have had. So here it goes…

5 Things: Our Father’s Day… The Good, The Bad, and The Funny:

1. So, here is how our morning began…. Well, I should really give y’all a little backstory first. I was FORCED BEYOND MY WILL to take a HUGE portion of cake home from the baby shower yesterday. And not just ANY section of cake, it was more like the entire side which had an ENORMOUS amount of LUSCIOUS FROSTING. Which I usually do not complain about free cake, but this cake was DANGEROUS y’all!

It was a fabulous, homemade, incredibly moist, creamy, rich, buttery, melt in your mouth, almond flavored cake…. And it tasted exactly like Wedding Cake. And here’s the problem, Wedding Cake is my one weakness! It is my favorite and I lose all of my senses and become completely clutched in its grasp while in its presence. Well, on my way home yesterday evening, I tried my very best to get rid of it all. I dropped some off to my grandparents, and then brought the rest to the boys. I left it on the counter hoping they would devour every last morsel.

But when I woke up this morning and headed into the kitchen, there it was… just STARING at me! One glorious piece of cake left. It was as if Jesus had saved it just for me! I tried to resist at first, but as I walked past to retrieve the coffee creamer from the fridge, I got one heavenly sniff and immediately fell into its evil clutches. I had no other choice but to gobble it up at once. Plus, you know that I am an adult, and it IS technically okay for me to eat cake for breakfast… And that is EXACTLY what I did.

5 Things: We Welcome You To The Lollipop Guild…

1. So, let me start off by telling y’all that we have not been to the gym in FOREVER! At least 8 or 9 months. Basically since Patrick’s health issues began last August. But since we finally have his heart rhythm under control, his doctors have released him to start working out again. Until now, he was only released to work… and that was it! So, sitting at home during this time period has caused us to really undo all of the hard work that we put in at the gym throughout the years prior. And with all of the added stress… the pounds decided to make themselves at home… on our bodies! The struggle has been REAL my friends. Especially considering that this is what my heart keeps telling me to do…Continue reading

How $15 Changed Our Outlook On Life!

How $15 Changed Our Outlook On Life!

This past weekend we decided to take a break for a bit to enjoy some time with our babies. This was something that we not only WANTED to do, but something that we really NEEDED to do. Between Patrick’s almost monthly heart procedures over the past 7 months, and working  7 days a week just to keep up with orders, we were in desperate need of a BREAK. And we knew our babies needed some time to decompress just as badly as we did.

Since it is now Spring, and the weather has been absolutely GORGEOUS here in Louisiana, we decided it was high time for a WATER PLAY DAY! So, we picked up some bubbles, a slip n’ slide, snacks, and pulled out last years $0.99 pools from Target and created a fun little surprise our kiddos. While they were inside of our home playing, Patrick and I secretly slipped outside to set up a FUN FILLED day for our family, and realized a valuable lesson in the process.

Happy 12th Anniversary #1

Happy 12th Anniversary #1

Happy Anniversary #1 to my BFF! This pic was taken about a year ago, but these fun little mugs speak volumes about our marriage and relationship:

A. We both love bacon and eggs
B. We both love coffee and drinking out of matching mugs
C. We would never intentionally break each others hearts… no matter what
D. And just like real bacon and eggs stick to your thighs when you eat them, we are always going to stick together

Today marks 12 years that we have been married, and I couldn’t imagine spending like with anyone else. Tue love is all about having fun and enjoying life together. The good and the bad, it’s ALL WORTH IT! <3

P.S.: For those of you wondering what I meant by anniversary #1, you can find out all about our story HERE.

Wealth Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

Wealth Is In The Eye Of The Beholder

One day a very wealthy father took his son on a trip to the country for the sole purpose of showing his son how it was to be poor. They spent a few days and nights on the farm of what would be considered a very poor family.

After their return from the trip, the father asked his son how he liked the trip. “It was great, Dad,” the son replied. “Did you see how poor people can be?” the father asked. “Oh Yeah,” said the son.

“So what did you learn from the trip?” asked the father. The son answered, “I saw that we have one dog and they had four. We have a pool that reaches to the middle of our garden and they have a creek that has no end. We have imported lanterns in our garden and they have the stars at night. Our patio reaches to the front yard and they have the whole horizon.

We have a small piece of land to live on and they have fields that go beyond our sight. We have servants who serve us, but they serve others.

We buy our food, but they grow theirs. We have walls around our property to protect us, they have friends to protect them.” The boy’s father was speechless. Then his son added, “It showed me just how poor we really are.”

Too many times we forget what we have and concentrate on what we don’t have. What is one person’s worthless object is another’s prize possession. It is all based on one’s perspective.

Sometimes it takes the perspective of a child to remind us what’s important.

Oh, Yes! Take it from us, sweet friends…You don’t need possessions or money to be RICH! Even when we didn’t have 2 pennies to rub together, we felt that we were the most wealthy people on the planet. We had each other, our babies, a roof over our heads, and Jesus in our hearts. At the end of the day, that’s all any of us truly NEED. ♡

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture… Pippi Longstockings Fan Club

1. We shared with y’all yesterday that our oldest daughter had to choose from a list of books for  her Literature class. And to my SURPRISE… Pippi Longstockings was on the list! Pippi Longstockings was one of my TOP FAVORITE MOVIES when I was a kid. I have watched it about a MILLION times, and it NEVER GETS OLD. So, I was THRILLED when she chose to read it for her class.

2. We also decided to watch the movie for our family movie night last night. NONE of our kids had ever seen it before. And Patrick had not either! SHOCKING… I know!Continue reading

Louisiana Weather Probs #186

HEHE! This is so us tonight! We are from Louisiana, BORN and RAISED…  So we are VERY used to HOT, HUMID weather. As soon as the temperture gets BELOW 80 degrees (that’s what we call a COOL FRONT), we IMMEDIATELY break out our sweaters, boots, hot cocoa, hot apple cider, smore’s, blankets, and bonfires. 🙂

It’s just HOW WE ROLL!

How’s the weather in your neck of the woods?

Yes It Is!

Yes It Is!

Yes it is! Smile, love others, give a compliment, hold a door open. Do whatever it takes to be KIND to others! KINDNESS makes the world go around! <3

HAVE A BLESSED DAY, FRIENDS!
