Time Spent In Our Workshop

Time Spent In Our Workshop

Patrick’s brother sent us this yesterday, and I think it is safe to say he has spent MORE THAN ENOUGH time with us in the shop. He has our workshop habits down pat because this graph depicts EXACTLY what goes on around here on a daily basis.

Now, off to find that MISSING TOOL I was looking for…

Our Top 10 Ways To Beat Those Winter Blues

Our Top 10 Ways To Beat Those Winter Blues

After having a few weeks of warm weather, we woke up this morning to some very unexpected COLD, GLOOMY weather. Ever since then, I have been feeling kind of down, and unable to shake these WINTER BLUES. Up until today, I had high hopes that this cold weather was behind us, and have been excitedly looking forward to Spring. But today really knocked the wind right out of my sails.

It comes as no surprise that most people feel down or depressed during the winter months, and it is actually a very common problem that affects a large number of people. It is called Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD). If you think about it, most people are stuck indoors during the winter months trying to stay hidden from the wintery, gloomy, overcast weather outdoors. And we all know that when we are trapped indoors for long periods of time, we aren’t able to get much needed fresh air, sunlight, and social interaction. All of which are essential to a happy, healthy lifestyle.

Well, if you are like us….trying to fight the winter blues, we have a few solutions to help brighten your moon, and get you back on track! Here are some of our top tips for a better, and maybe even enjoyable winter for you and your entire family!Continue reading

Just Call Me Dr. Jess

Just Call Me Dr. Jess

HOLY MACARONI! I just had to pull this 2″ nail out of Patrick’s thumb! It went straight through. Yes, he’s okay, but I almost DIED!!!

Those of you who know me, know that I get very weak at the sight of blood. As a matter of fact, I do not like blood or any form of injuries that go along with it. But today I had to put my big girl panties on, take a deep breath, closed my eyes tight, and pulled as hard and as fast as I could.

Thank the Lord, it came out easily and didn’t cause any major damage that a good cleaning and some bandages couldn’t fix. 😉

Tips For A Worn Out Mom

Tips For A Worn Out Mom

Haha! This is a GREAT READ for all of our Mammas out there! And remember, don’t be too hard on yourselves. As a Mamma of 4, I spend more time laughing at myself than anything else. It’s a LEARN-AS-YOU-GO journey. The best thing to do is embrace it. ♡

Can Any Of Our Mammas Out there Relate?

There is nothing more TRUE than this, my friends! I have had 10 years of experience, and not a day goes by that we do not have some type of DISASTROUS MESS around here. And by the time I have finished cleaning up that MESS, the kids have had just enough time to make another MESS in a totally different room! They keep me on my toes, but I sure do LOVE them! 😉

We Think The Furniture Is Trying To Tell Us Something

Happy Tuesday, Friends! We just walked into our shop, and found this… We think the furniture is trying to tell us something. Haha! We need to dust this place!

We had a lot of building going on yesterday and we now have a lovely layer of sawdust on every surface. We are so excited to show y’all everything that we are currently working on. A few of the pieces are not orders for clients, so they will be up for grabs! We will be sure to post some pictures once we have them completed!

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture “Comfort Food”

Five Things You Should Know About This Picture “Comfort Food”

1. We have had a LONG, PRODUCTIVE, BUSY, BLESSED WEEK! And we NEEDED some COMFORT FOOD! So, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, and fresh corn was a much needed home cooked meal on our menu for tonight!

2. We have completed 4 DIY projects (we will be posting them soon) for our site. We have also built and are almost finished with 5 custom orders for clients. We Spring cleaned our home from TOP to BOTTOM (better late than never since Spring is only a few days from ending). And we just finished booking orders through the middle of August! WHEW! And not to mention, we have been running around trying to keep up after our 4 little ones. As I sit here typing this, MY FEET ARE THROBBING! Continue reading

Cleaning And Organizing The Shop

Cleaning And Organizing The Shop

While our current projects were drying this afternoon, we did some MUCH NEEDED CLEANING AND ORGANIZING in our shop! (We had SAWDUST FOR DAYS from all of the building that we have been doing lately!) We do this periodically because having an organized work space allows our business to operate much more SMOOTHLY and EFFICIENTLY.  Plus, we always seem to find better ways to organize our materials each time we do it.

Today, we added some peg board in order to make our most frequently used tools more EASILY ACCESSIBLE for us. We also put up some small SHELVING for our nails, screws, and glue. These new additions will help our workdays go by much more smoothly, which in turn makes us HAPPY! It is often the little things in life that can make such a HUGE DIFFERENCE!

“Tip Of The Week” How To Remove Permanent Marker From Everything

“Tip Of The Week” How To Remove Permanent Marker From Everything

Hi friends! Here’s a nice little “how-to” list for permanent marker removal. If any of you have been thinking of refinishing some of your pieces due to permanent marker damage, this list may save you some time and money!

We have not tried all of the solutions listed here, but can vouch for the rubbing alcohol method on wood. And if you do not have any rubbing alcohol on hand, hair spray works quite nicely! We have had to use this little trick first hand since we have 4 little ones.
