Our First Day Of School Was A Success!

Hi friends! I want to first start off by saying a huge “THANK YOU” to everyone who made it a point to pop in and leave us kind words of encouragement regarding our new homeschooling journey. It has meant more to us than any of you will ever know. This has been a BIG STEP for our family, and we truly APPRECIATE all of you backing us up and believing in us!

So, for all of you who have been asking how our first day of school went today… IT WAS WONDERFUL! I was initially feeling a little overwhelmed since I am teaching 3 different children on 3 different grade levels (1st, 3rd, and 5th), but it went much BETTER than I expected. I was already well aware that it would probably take us about a week or 2 to get into a good routine. So, I am not tying to be too hard on anyone as it is definitely a new learning experience for us all.

One of the best things about today was the fact that we have felt complete PEACE all day. It was one of those times when you are anticipating something and then once you finally get to it, it just feels right. It was just another CONFIRMATION that this was definitely the right choice for our family. Plus, the kids LOVED their new curriculum! They do a portion of each subject online, and then do a potion in their workbooks. They were engaged the entire time, and even told me that they were having FUN! Yes, learning can be FUN! It makes my heart so happy to both see and hear them enjoying themselves while also learning. ๐Ÿ™‚

Since our day went so well, and they each finished all of their subjects for the day, we had a little Art time at the end of the day. We went over different types of art… Self Portraits, Still Life, Statues, etc… They had a BLAST! Our 3 year old even joined in. They were so PROUD of their art work that they asked their daddy to make them a special place to hang their weekly artwork in their new classroom. So, that will be a new little side project that we will be adding to our list. (We will be sure to post a picture of it once we have it finished!)

today's art

We have 2 self portraits, 1 nature, and 1 free flow. lol

And y’all aren’t going to believe it…. I was so exhausted after our school day, and I actually took a N.A.P!!! I was shocked that I actually fell asleep because I NEVER, and I mean NEVER get to take a nap. The last time I took a nap was when I was sick last January! (NO JOKE) But let me tell y’all what… it felt GREAT! ๐Ÿ˜‰

So, how did your day go? I know that several non-public schools in our area started today as well. How was y’all’s 1st day back?
