Five Things You Should Know About This Picture “Graduation Day!”

Happy Thursday, Friends! Here are 5 things that you should know about this picture….

1.) These cutie pies are our 3 oldest children. Brice, Sophia, and Colton. Our PRIDE AND JOY! (So is our youngest daughter..pictured here) Today we have spent the majority of our day at our youngest son’s (on the right) graduation and celebration afterwards. We have always given each of our children the option to pick their restaurant of choice to eat at after their graduation, and he chose Mi Patio. Or as he likes to call it…”Meat Patio.” And yes, he is being completely serious about this. Which makes it even more hilarious! Haha! Mi Patio is one of our FAVORITE local restaurants, so I was especially excited about this choice.

2. Our children are all 2 years apart in age. Which means that we have celebrated one of their kindergarten graduations every 2 years since 2011. This has barely given me enough time to recover in between each one. Regardless, I am still extremely grateful for this emotional resting period. 😉

3.) People may think that we are crazy for placing such a strong emphasis on the importance of Kindergarten, but let me explain our thoughts on this. Kindergarten is the basis for which each child builds upon in their educational journey throughout life. This is when they learn to read, write, and learn basic math skills. It is like the Wise and Foolish builders in Matthew 7 24-27…. The wise man who built his house upon the rock.  25 The rain came down, the streams rose, and the winds blew and beat against that house; yet it did not fall, because it had its foundation on the rock.

4.) Our children’s school is fairly small, and they have all had the same Kindergarten teacher….Mrs. Holstein. She is INCREDIBLE! Literally, one of the BEST teachers in the WORLD! I truly beleive God would have chosen her to teach baby Jesus Himself. Our family will dearly miss her. So, if you are reading this Mrs. Holstein, please know from the bottom of our hearts that we LOVE and APPRECIATE all that you have done for our babies over the years.

5.) As I have said before, each graduation was difficult for me to get through, but this one has been especially difficult as we have made the decision to homeschool our children next year. Even though we know WITHOUT A SHADOW OF A DOUBT that this is exactly what God wants us to do for our family, it was still very difficult knowing that this was the last year that our children would be attending their school (of 5 years), as well as the fact that it would be the last time that Mrs. Holstein would be teaching any of our children. (We still have 1 more little one going into Kindergarten in a few years. Sigh!)

But at the end of the day, this verse always brings peace to my heart:

“For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” -Jeremiah 29:11

I will hold on to this promise from GOD!

We want to congratulate ALL of our 2015 graduates! YAY! You did it! If you are a graduate, or know someone who is, feel free to share this picture with them to let them know how proud you are of their accomplishment! Keep up the good work!
